2024 comes in with big changes for Microsoft Planner, as the app will be getting a handful of new features that will make users reconsider it, in case they aren’t using it yet.

According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, Microsoft Planner will get no less than 8 new features, all coming to the platform in March 2024.

These features include an integration with Copilot, which was recently released on Windows 11 and Microsoft 365, but also an integration with Microsoft Teams, which recently debuted a new version promising new features.

If you haven’t used Microsoft Planner before, maybe now is the time, especially if you are someone who likes to keep things planned and organized. If you’re using it already, Microsoft is about to make it even easier for you to plan your tasks. Here’s what the roadmap tells us about these new features.

Microsoft Planner: Copilot, integration with Microsoft Teams, and more

New Microsoft Planner app for Teams

Teams will debut a new Planner app for the platform, in March 2024, which will take the form of a single, unified work management experience, according to Microsoft. It will be suited for single management, but also collaborative work.

Copilot in Planner

The AI tool will come to Planner Teams app, and users will be able to type in natural language to create plans, organize tasks, and so on. Coming in March 2024, this feature will be available on Planner inside Teams.

Open and Edit Projects in Planner

Coming in March 2024, Planner will let users manage their projects, and edit them if needed with these new capabilities.

Create personal plans in Planner

The app will also let users create and edit personal plans, which only they have access to. This feature is also coming in 2024.

Auto population of due tasks in My Day

This new capability will prompt the Planner to automatically show tasks in My Day panel on their due dates. According to Microsoft, this feature will give users better management of their daily tasks. Also coming in March 2024.microsoft planner

Manage all your tasks in My Tasks

The My Tasks panel will show every task across every project users are involved in. The feature, which is coming in March 2024, allows for better management of work projects.

Access all your plans, projects and to-do lists in My Plans

My Plans panel will now aggregate every task, every project, and every to-do lists users have, allowing them to easily manage and organize their workflow. The feature is also coming in 2024.

Add premium capabilities to Planner

As part of a Teams Premium license, the Planner app can get all the Premium capabilities, including sprint planning, people view, goals, custom fields, and task history. This addition will happen in March 2024.

These are all the features coming to Microsoft Planner in 2024. Copilot most definitely feels exciting, and the ability to quickly come up with complex to-do lists, and task management project could be a game changer.
