Twitch Game Lift Lets Viewers Try Games Without Leaving Streams

Live test runs in the United States and Canada only

Twitch Game Lift

Twitch is testing a new feature called Game Lift, aiming to transform the platform from a passive viewing experience into an interactive gaming hub, as GameSpot writes. The experiment introduces playable demos directly inside streams, marking a shift toward deeper user engagement.

Play games directly inside Twitch

Game Lift allows users to launch and play game demos without leaving Twitch. The current test includes a demo for Reanimal, which runs for about 20 minutes and is available only in the United States and Canada.

The feature removes the need to download demos separately, giving viewers instant access while watching content.

Cloud-powered gameplay experience

The system likely relies on Amazon’s cloud streaming technology to deliver gameplay instantly. This approach lets users jump into a game with minimal friction, directly from a stream interface.

Once the demo ends, Twitch redirects users to the game’s Steam page, encouraging them to purchase the full version.

A new advertising and monetization model

Game Lift positions itself as more than a feature, it acts as a built-in advertising tool for developers. By letting viewers try games immediately, Twitch creates a direct path from discovery to purchase.

This model could increase engagement while opening a new revenue stream tied to game promotion and conversions.

Early limitations and future potential

For now, the test remains limited. Only one game is available, and access is restricted to select regions. Twitch has not shared how long the experiment will run or when more titles will be added.

If the feature expands, it could reshape how players discover games, making demos a seamless part of the streaming experience and potentially challenging traditional demo platforms and cloud gaming services.

In other news, a recent Opera update adds YouTube and Twitch directly into the browser sidebar, while changes to Xbox Game Pass pricing fuel speculation about a future “pick your plan” subscription model.
