Trusted Assassin’s Creed Leaker Shares Original Invictus Screenshot Following Ubisoft’s “Misinformation” Accusation
Ubisoft said, "it’s been heavily altered (most probably with AI). Not great to spread misinformation"
Ubisoft has called out a fresh Assassin’s Creed Invictus screenshot leak that is making rounds online. Not to mention, the moment quickly turned tense, especially given the source behind the leak.
Ubisoft pushes back on viral Assassin’s Creed Invictus leak, claiming it has been heavily modified
A well-known Assassin’s Creed leaker, xj0nathan, recently shared what was claimed to be a screenshot from a private playtest of Assassin’s Creed Invictus. The project, reportedly a Fall Guys-inspired multiplayer spin-off, has already been circulating in rumors for some time.
However, Ubisoft stepped in soon after, suggesting the image may not be entirely authentic. In a reply on X to xj0nathan’s post, the official Assassin’s Creed account noted, “Nice try… This might have started as an image from our private test, but it’s been heavily altered (most probably with AI). Not great to spread misinformation. 👎For those genuinely curious about the project: we’ll share more when the time is right!”
Leaker hits back with the original version
As expected, the response did not sit well with the leaker. xj0nathan pushed back, saying only minor color adjustments were made to remove the playtest watermark and enhance visuals. He later shared what he described as the original version, which appeared nearly identical at a glance. Here’s the post from the leaker:
For those unaware, Invictus is reportedly being developed by For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal, with a strong PvP focus. Ubisoft has also hinted at a “new approach” to multiplayer within the franchise. Do note that the same leaker had earlier claimed that a recent playtest held on April 30 received less-than-positive feedback. Some reports also hint that the game, once expected in 2025, may now slip to 2026 or beyond, with a possibility of cancellation.
