Microsoft is getting ready for its major Windows and Surface event tomorrow. While the company has already revealed the Surface Laptop Ultra powered by NVIDIA RTX Spark chip and teased new Windows experiences recently, there could still be plenty left to show. The event is scheduled for October 7 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET in San Francisco. The company has confirmed that CEO Satya Nadella, Windows and Devices chief Pavan Davuluri, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang will take part.

We might finally see what Microsoft’s RTX Spark-powered Windows future looks like

Microsoft and NVIDIA already revealed RTX Spark earlier this year, including the platform’s ability to deliver up to 1 petaflop of AI performance and 128GB of unified memory. Microsoft also detailed Windows optimizations for the hardware, including workload profile scheduling, improved unified-memory handling, and Prism tuning.

However, tomorrow’s event could give us a much better look at what all of that means for Windows PCs. The Surface Laptop Ultra is expected to be one of the major products to be discussed at the event. NVIDIA previously confirmed that RTX Spark laptops will be announced this month. We might see some other models too.

Microsoft has also teased “new experiences designed to unlock more possibilities for developers and builders.” It has not explained exactly what those experiences are, leaving plenty of room for new Windows features or demonstrations during the event. It’s also very much possible that Microsoft might discuss the optimization and improvements it has made to Windows 11 as part of the internal K2 plan.

The company has already said that local AI will be central to the next chapter of Windows, with RTX Spark designed to run demanding AI models and agentic workloads directly on Windows PCs rather than relying entirely on the cloud.

So, don’t expect Microsoft to suddenly announce Windows 12 tomorrow. Instead, the focus is likely to be on RTX Spark, Surface hardware, local AI, and Microsoft’s broader vision for Windows PCs. And with Microsoft already teasing “Something new is coming from Windows,” there could still be a surprise or two waiting for us.
