Windows 11 Canary Update, KB5077230, Expands Cross-Device Resume and Introduces Narrator Control
Microsoft has rolled out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 28020.1619 under KB5077230 to the Canary Channel. One of the highlights of this update is that it expands the functionaility of Cross-Device Resume. Now, users can pick up activities from their Android phones on a PC, including Spotify playback, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and browsing sessions.
Vivo phone users can continue browsing seamlessly, while HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, and Xiaomi phones allow files opened in Microsoft Copilot to resume in the corresponding Microsoft 365 app on the PC. If the app isn’t installed, files open in the web browser. This makes switching between devices smoother than ever, though offline-only files remain unsupported.
On the accessibility side, Narrator now offers more control over spoken announcements. You can select which on-screen details are read aloud and adjust their order for easier navigation. These small tweaks are designed to reduce extra speech and make Narrator more intuitive.
While Cross-Device Resume and Narrator are the focus, insiders should note that KB5077230 also introduces multiple changes across features like Windows Hello and Voice Typing. Moreover, the same Canary update has also added freeform rotate feature to Windows 11 Paint app and updated SCOOBE screen.
