Last week, Microsoft released Build 23506 to the Dev Channel, and the build brought a lot of new features to Windows 11, including an incredible improvement that will greatly prolong your Windows 11′ device’s battery life.

Other new features such as the Local File Sharing Improvements, Post-OOBE Experiences, and Auto Color Management (ACM) Expansion were also welcomed. And starting with the New Outlook for Windows is now an inbox app.

But one overlooked feature is the one concerning Emojis. On Windows 11, emojis lacked a certain expression, but Microsoft fixed the issue by adding depth to them. Specifically, the Redmond-based tech giant added a 3-D-like appearance to them.

With the update of our color font format to COLRv1, Windows is now able to display richer emoji with a 3D like appearance with support coming soon to some apps and browsers. These emoji use gradients to bring the design style that our customers have been asking for. The new emoji will bring more expression to your communications.

Of course, with the new emoji coming to Windows 11, users once again started to wonder when will Microsoft add flag emojis to Windows 11.

Is there any possibility Microsoft will add flag emojis to Windows 11?

While there are many users asking for this specific feature, it seems that Microsoft has no plans to add flag emojis in the foreseeable future. When users want to type in flag emojis in Windows 11, they are greeted with the 🇯🇵, 🇰🇷, 🇩🇪, 🇨🇳, 🇫🇷, 🇪🇸, 🇮🇹, 🇷🇺, 🇬🇧 instead.windows 11 flag emojis

Emoji flags are supported on all major OS beside Windows. Its annoying when you want to post or view a flag emoji and you see this 🇯🇵, 🇰🇷, 🇩🇪, 🇨🇳, 🇫🇷, 🇪🇸, 🇮🇹, 🇷🇺, 🇬🇧.

The reasons are varied: some say the issue is political, and others say it’s a bit complicated to render the flag emojis from a technical perspective.

Either way, Microsoft has not yet commented on this matter, and most probably won’t. But for now, you can use a lot of other options if you want to integrate flag emojis into your conversations.

Firefox and Discord on Windows 11 have support for it, specifically, so if you it, then head over and use these programs.
