Windows 11 Insider 26H1 Experimental Build Adds Cloud Rebuild for PCs That Won’t Boot

Windows 11 Insider Experimental (26H1) Preview Build 28120.3032 is now available, adding Cloud rebuild recovery and fixes for Hyper-V and Easy Anti-Cheat.

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental (26H1) Preview Build 28120.3032, with a new Cloud rebuild recovery option alongside fixes for Hyper-V and Easy Anti-Cheat.

Cloud rebuild can reinstall Windows even when the PC won’t boot

The main addition is Cloud rebuild, a new recovery option that can perform a full Windows 11 reinstall directly from the Windows Recovery Environment.

Unlike Reset this PC, Cloud rebuild downloads both the target Windows image and required device drivers from Windows Update instead of relying on the operating system already installed on the device.

That allows users to restore a PC to a clean, known-good state without creating USB installation media or using a custom recovery image, including in situations where Windows can no longer boot normally.

Users can find the feature under Troubleshoot > Recovery and uninstall > Cloud rebuild inside WinRE.

From there, they can connect the PC to Ethernet or Wi-Fi, review the Windows build, edition, and language that will be installed, and confirm the data-loss warning before starting the recovery process.

Microsoft fixes Hyper-V Plan9 folder sharing

The build also fixes an issue affecting HCS-managed virtual machines.

Windows host folders shared with Linux virtual machines through Plan9 could previously fail to appear inside the VM or remain inaccessible.

Microsoft says the problem has now been addressed in the latest Experimental 26H1 build.

Easy Anti-Cheat 0xc000007b error is resolved

Microsoft has also resolved the previously known Easy Anti-Cheat launch problem.

The issue could prevent Easy Anti-Cheat from starting and display the error message: “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).”

The fix should allow affected games that rely on Easy Anti-Cheat to launch normally again.

Meanwhile, Windows 11 25H2 Insider users also received two separate releases. Microsoft rolled out a new Windows 11 Insider Beta Build with Live Captions and File History improvements, as well as another Windows 11 Insider Experimental Build focused on accessibility and Cloud rebuild changes.
