Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental Future Platforms Build 29683.1000, bringing back symbols that disappeared in the previous flight while also delivering a small collection of general improvements and fixes.

The new build is relatively light on features, but Microsoft is also tracking two notable issues affecting internet connectivity and VMware users.

Missing symbols return in Future Platforms Build 29683.1000

One of the main changes in Windows 11 Insider Experimental Future Platforms Build 29683.1000 addresses symbols that went missing for some Insiders after installing the previous flight.

Microsoft says those symbols should now appear correctly after upgrading to the new build.

The company has also included several general improvements and fixes, although this release does not introduce major new features or interface changes.

Microsoft often uses Future Platforms builds to test underlying platform changes and engineering work that may eventually contribute to future Windows releases.

Microsoft investigates internet connectivity problems

Microsoft is still investigating reports from some Windows Insiders who lost internet access after installing the previous Future Platforms flight.

The company has not yet provided details about what causes the connectivity problem or whether a workaround is available.

Users affected by the issue may therefore want to keep an eye on future Insider updates while Microsoft continues its investigation.

VMware users are also reporting green screen crashes

Another known issue affects devices running VMware.

Microsoft says it is investigating reports that some VMware devices can encounter green screen crashes when using these experimental Windows builds.

Green screen crashes serve essentially the same purpose as the familiar Windows blue screen, but Microsoft uses the green version in Insider builds to distinguish preview crashes from problems affecting stable Windows releases.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed the exact cause of the VMware crashes.

Microsoft released several other Windows 11 Insider builds

Future Platforms Build 29683.1000 isn’t the only Windows 11 preview Microsoft has released.

The company also rolled out Windows 11 Insider Experimental Build Adds WinUI 3 Search and New Actions, which introduces Microsoft’s newer WinUI 3-based Search experience and additional actions directly from search results.

Beta Channel users also received Windows 11 Insider Beta Build Puts Weather First on Lock Screen, bringing changes to the default lock screen widget experience.

Windows 11 26H1 users received a new Experimental build as well, which includes the revamped Search experience alongside additional Narrator improvements.

Compared with those releases, Future Platforms Build 29683.1000 focuses mainly on restoring missing functionality and addressing stability issues rather than introducing major new features.
