Microsoft has released the Windows 11 KB5055651 update to the Dev Channel. The update, now live for Windows Insiders in that channel, doesn’t bring major feature updates.
However, it’s packed with important under-the-hood changes, especially HDR, enterprise power management, and quality-of-life tweaks.
The KB5055651 Dev channel update improves HDR performance and Dolby Vision in Windows 11
If you’re running HDR or Dolby Vision-capable hardware, the KB5055651 Dev update introduces noticeable improvements. Microsoft has tweaked Dolby Vision rendering and HDR settings, with a new panel inside the Settings app offering more granular display controls. It’s a minor update, but a welcoming one.

The Windows 11 KB5055651 Dev updates also bring a new Remote Desktop Energy Saver policy. You can manage the same via Microsoft Intune. It’s aimed at enterprise users who want better power management without sacrificing performance.
The KB5055651 Dev update is also giving the taskbar a minor visual tweak in Windows 11. Microsoft has updated the “needy state” indicator — that little visual nudge apps give you when they want attention. It now appears as a wider pill shape under the app icon, making it more visible.
The update contains plenty of bug fixes
The KB5055651 Dev update fixes a lot of bugs and issues. From making Windows Update’s behavior smooth to some lingering UI issues, Microsoft continues to patch them quietly in the background. For more details, check the full changelog here.
