Windows 11 GPO

We just headed into the last Tuesday of the month, and Microsoft has released yet another preview update, KB5058502, for Windows 11, targeting versions 22H2 and 23H2 with builds 22621.5413 and 22631.5413.

As always, this is a gradual rollout, so not everyone will see it right away. You can check the rollout status on the Windows release health dashboard.

Copilot gets more shortcuts

This update adds new ways to launch and interact with Copilot on Windows:

  • Win + C now opens Copilot. You can customize this in Settings > Personalization > Text input.
  • Hold Win + C (or the Copilot key) for two seconds to talk to Copilot.
  • Press Alt + Spacebar to speak with Copilot instantly.
  • Stay silent or press Esc to exit voice interaction.

Microsoft says these features will help users multitask while chatting with Copilot.

Taskbar, Settings, and Widgets get smarter

  • You’ll now see a new FAQs section under Settings > System > About, with answers to setup and compatibility questions.
  • Admins can control which taskbar apps stay unpinned using a new PinGeneration option.
  • The Lock screen weather widget in the EEA now supports customization.
  • Expect more lock screen widgets to become customizable soon.

Windows Share gets drag-and-drop

Dragging a local file now triggers a share tray at the top of your screen. You can drop the file into suggested apps or launch the full share window.

Bug fixes

  • Voice typing now works correctly with the Chinese (Simplified) narrow keyboard.
  • Page switching in the Symbols section no longer enters characters in password fields.
  • Voice access no longer gets stuck on “working on it” while dictating.

This is a non-security preview update, meant for testing before the June Patch Tuesday rollout.
