Windows 11 Release Preview, KB5079387, Updates Narrator With Rich Image Descriptions & Lifts Smart App Control Limit
Microsoft has released two new Release Preview builds for Windows 11 Insider, 26100.8106 (24H2) and 26200.8106 (25H2), under KB5079387. Speaking of new features, Narrator receives a major upgrade for Copilot+ PCs. You can now get rich image descriptions within Copilot on all Windows 11 devices. All you have to do is press Narrator key + Ctrl + D, and then the focused image is described. Meanwhile, pressing Ctrl + S describes the full screen.
Do note that descriptions appear in Copilot, which allows users to enter prompts for more detailed or customized insights. On Copilot+ PCs, all of this happens on-device, with optional prompts to improve output, ensuring privacy until the user chooses to share.
As part of this update, Microsoft is also making Smart App Control (SAC) even smarter. Previously requiring a clean install, SAC can now be toggled on or off directly via Settings > Windows Security > App & Browser Control > Smart App Control settings.
For those unaware, SAC helps block potentially harmful applications, so that users have more control over app security without reinstalling the OS. Microsoft notes that the feature first appeared in the January 2026 release (KB5074105) and is now rolling out to more users.
Besides these updates, Microsoft is also making some important changes to the Settings app and Account Settings. You can read more about it here.
As for fixes, this update fixes various File Explorer issues and improves display reliability.
