Microsoft boosts the Clipchamp media library with 5 million images and 300,000 videos

I’ve been keeping my eyes on Clipchamp because Microsoft invested a lot in its latest updates. It has a lot of professional tools to play with and many features you wouldn’t expect from a free video editor.

Recently, Microsoft announced a new Clipchamp update and it’s arguably the most exciting so far because it gets a mindblowing media library update. You will get access to 5 million images and 300,000 videos, and all of them are copyright-free, and ready to use in your commercial content.

So, if you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot work account, Clipchamp will probably become your go-to video editor. To access the new content, you will just need to search within the Stock video and Stock images tabs from the editor.

This is not the only improvement. Microsoft has 4 new additions for Clipchamp that will perfect your skills.

What are the new Microsoft Clipchamp features?

If you’ve had any problems getting that perfect title or text inside your video, Clipchamp will provide new text styles that were created by professional graphic designers. They are nicely grouped into different themes and genres so you can easily find them in the editor. The new styles will be available in the Text tab.

Microsoft also updated the color picker in Clipchamp. You will be able to use the palette colors, use an eyedropper tool, or enter the exact hex code if you want to match the color perfectly.

If you previously created a brand kit, you may use them as well, directly from the Brand kit menu.

Another improvement is a new way to create gradient backgrounds with smooth color transitions. You can just select up to 6 colors, choose the direction of the transition, and the app will do the rest.

If you’re a Personal user, the gradient background can be accessed from the Content library, and if you’re using a Work account, you will find it in the Graphics tab.

Microsoft also added new shapes in the library which now has over 120 to choose from.

They are all vector shapes and that means you can change their size, color, rotation, and even flip them if you need to. As with the gradients, the shapes are stored in the Content library for Personal users and in Graphics for those with a Work account.

All the new changes and features will start rolling out in February, so pretty soon. If you don’t use Clipchamp, you might be interested in our list of the best video editors for beginners.
