X Rolls Out Starterpacks, Curated Follow Lists Based on Interests

x reveals starterpacks feature

X has stayed in the spotlight in recent weeks, following a high-profile outage and controversy surrounding deepfakes linked to Grok AI. The backlash led some countries to block the tool outright and pushed the United Kingdom to accelerate plans for stricter laws targeting deepfake content. Against this tense backdrop, X now turns attention back to expanding platform features.

A new push to help users find relevant voices

As reported by TechCrunch, X is launching a new feature called “Starterpacks,” designed to help users quickly discover accounts worth following based on specific interests.

The idea mirrors the popular Starter Packs concept introduced by Bluesky, where curated lists guide users toward relevant communities. X takes a different approach, as the company builds these lists internally instead of letting users create them.

X’s product team reportedly searched across regions and industries to identify influential and high-quality accounts. The goal centers on reducing friction for new and returning users who want to tailor their feeds without manually searching for dozens of profiles.

Starterpacks will span a wide range of topics, including news, politics, fashion, technology, business, health, gaming, stocks, and memes. By offering ready-made lists, X aims to speed up onboarding and help users shape their timelines faster.

Curated account suggestions are not new for the platform. X experimented with similar discovery tools during its Twitter era, using recommendations to connect users with trending voices and topics.

X plans to roll out Starterpacks globally over the coming weeks. The feature signals a renewed focus on usability and content discovery as the platform works to rebuild trust and engagement amid ongoing scrutiny.
