Xbox App Heads to TCL Smart TVs With Cloud Gaming Support

The Xbox app is coming to select TCL Smart TVs in the coming months. The partnership expands Xbox Cloud Gaming beyond traditional consoles and PCs. TCL users across more than 25 countries will get access.

TCL TVs are becoming another Xbox gaming screen

Players will need a supported TCL Smart TV and compatible controller. They will also need cloud playtime through Xbox Game Pass or separately. Once available, the Xbox app will provide access to Xbox Cloud Gaming directly from supported televisions. Game Pass subscribers can access a library of cloud-playable games.

That includes blockbuster releases, established franchises, and indie games available through the cloud. Players can therefore start gaming without connecting an Xbox console. Microsoft says the move is about giving players more choice. The company wants Xbox experiences available across more devices and locations.

The biggest advantage goes beyond simply launching games on a television. Xbox says games, friends, achievements, and saves can travel across its ecosystem. That means players can move between a supported TCL Smart TV, Xbox console, or PC. Their existing Xbox experience can continue across those devices.

The TCL partnership also hints aat Microsoft’s continued push toward device-based access. Players can use hardware they already own instead of buying another gaming machine. However, not every TCL television will necessarily support the Xbox app. Microsoft specifically says availability is limited to select TCL Smart TVs.

The company has not provided every supported model in the announcement. It also says the app will release in the coming months.
