XBOX CEO Confirms Platinum-Style Achievements Are Coming

XBOX has introduced several improvements in recent months, and another highly requested feature is now officially in development.

The latest XBOX Insider Update added chat captures, cloud save restoration, expanded wishlists, and other changes. Recent rumors also suggest that XBOX disc owners may keep their game libraries across future consoles.

XBOX is now preparing a new reward for players who complete every achievement in a game.

XBOX is working on a completion achievement

XBOX CEO Asha Sharma confirmed that the company is developing an achievement-related completion feature for release later in 2026.

Sharma shared the information after a player asked whether XBOX could introduce a reward similar to PlayStation’s Platinum trophy. PlayStation awards a Platinum trophy when players unlock every standard trophy included with a game.

XBOX titles typically launch with a base total of 1,000 Gamerscore. However, players currently receive no separate badge, achievement, or reward for completing the full list.

Microsoft has already made several changes to the achievement system. The company updated the visual design of XBOX achievements and introduced improved tracking tools earlier this year. It also began adding achievements to backward-compatible classic games.

Microsoft has not announced the feature’s official name, appearance, or completion requirements.

Downloadable content could create complications because expansions often add new achievements and remove a game’s 100% completion status. XBOX could avoid this problem by awarding the completion reward after players earn the original 1,000 Gamerscore.

The company could also require players to unlock every available achievement, including those added after launch. Microsoft plans to share more details before the feature arrives later in 2026.
