Xbox Confirms GDC 2026 Plans With First-Ever Dev Summit and Ecosystem Focus
Microsoft has confirmed its plans for GDC 2026, detailing an ecosystem-focused strategy under the tagline “Build for What’s Next.” The annual Game Developers Conference will take place from March 9 to March 13 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
Bryce Baer, Senior Director of Xbox Ecosystem Marketing, says the event will center on empowering developers to build and release games across console, PC, cloud, and other devices. This year, we’ll have the first-ever Xbox Dev Summit.
The Xbox Dev Summit will be held on March 11 in West Hall Room 3001/3003, kicking off at 10:10 am with Jason Ronald, VP of Next Gen. The session will reflect on Xbox’s 25-year anniversary and walk through how the platform is evolving toward a more connected future.
Besides the keynote, Microsoft plans to host six sponsored sessions during the summit. Speakers from Xbox, Windows, Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, and King will cover tools, services, and development workflows aimed at simplifying multi-device releases.
At the show floor, attendees visiting the Xbox Lounge in Moscone South Lobby will be able to explore an exhibit highlighting major moments from 25 years of Xbox. The company will also host partner meetings and sponsor events such as the IGF Awards and the ESA Foundation’s Nite to Unite.
For developers unable to attend in person, Microsoft is directing them to its Game Development Resource Hub and dedicated GDC 2026 online portal for updates and session details.
While no new hardware announcements have been confirmed, the emphasis on flexibility, the Play Anywhere, and simplified onboarding hints at Xbox’s broader ecosystem-first strategy for this year, too.
