Xbox Players Spot a Major Change That Could Bring Achievements to Classic Games
Microsoft may be getting closer to adding achievements to original Xbox games, as players have noticed classic titles appearing in their Xbox gaming profiles.
A few months ago, Xbox backward compatibility launched on PC, and Microsoft also revealed plans to add achievements to classic Xbox games.
Now, several players report that original Xbox games have started appearing in the Gaming tab of their profiles, even though these titles previously didn’t show up there.
Original Xbox games now appear in achievement history
According to user reports, backward-compatible original Xbox titles are now showing up alongside newer games in player profiles.
However, these games currently display zero achievements and zero Gamerscore, suggesting Microsoft may be preparing the system for future achievement support.
The change could indicate that Microsoft is testing how original Xbox games integrate with the existing achievement system.
However, it’s unclear whether every original Xbox title will eventually support achievements or whether Microsoft is simply updating how these games appear in player profiles.
Players will need to replay games to earn achievements
Xbox’s Jason Ronald previously confirmed that achievements for original Xbox games won’t unlock retroactively.
This means players who have already completed classic games won’t automatically receive achievements or Gamerscore when the feature arrives.
Instead, they’ll need to replay supported titles and complete the required objectives to unlock achievements.
Microsoft hasn’t announced a release date for original Xbox achievement support, and the recent profile changes don’t confirm that the feature is ready to launch.
In other Xbox news, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium are coming to T-Mobile’s T-Mix plans in November.
