Is Xbox going all caps? Renamed as XBOX on X

Xbox is now XBOX. Yes, you read it correctly, and I haven’t fumbled the caps. For those unaware, XBOX CEO, Asha Sharma, ran a poll on X last week, asking for players’ feedback on how the brand name should look. Among the two options (Xbox and XBOX), the uppercase branding received a whopping 65% of the total 19,176 votes.

Xbox is seemingly rebranding to XBOX

While it seemed like the CEO was casually taking interest in players’ opinions, Sharma, via her X account, confirmed the all caps version, XBOX, by posting a screenshot of the company’s X account .

The rename suggests that Xbox is revisiting its roots yet again. For those unaware, Microsoft’s first gaming console debuted in 2001 and had its logo with Xbox written in uppercase. In fact, other consoles also had a similar all-caps version in their logos. To name a few, I am talking about Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

For now, it seems the company has only renamed the X account with the all-caps branding. That’s because almost every other social accounts, including Instagram, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, and Twitch, still shows the regular “Xbox” brand name, at least at the time of writing this. It’s unclear whether Xbox is planning an all-caps rename across the board.

Major recent announcements by the Xbox CEO

To catch you up, Asha Sharma is on a spree of changes within the company as part of the big Xbox reset plan. From organizational changes to scrapping the Microsoft Gaming branding and winding down Copilot for Gaming, we’ve come across a bunch of announcements. Not to forget, Xbox also recently unveiled a new logo, startup animation, and introduced features requested by fans.

So, what would you prefer, Xbox or XBOX? Let us know what you think about Xbox’s all caps renaming approach.
