[ORIGINAL STORY] A leaked release date trailer of Marathon may have just spoiled Bungie’s party earlier than they would have liked. The leaked footage was first shared by X user @EtherealAbyss and has since been circulating across multiple gaming subreddits.

Per the footage seen in the embedded tweet, Marathon will release on March 5, 2026. After months of delays, drama, and uncertainty, fans now have a day to circle on their calendars. The video mixes gameplay with cinematic segments. At the end, the date appears in bold, clear text. Pre-orders are expected to begin once the trailer is officially published.

Sony previously hinted at a March 2026 launch back in November 2025. This leak now solidifies that window. Alongside the leaked release date, Marathon will reportedly feature content exclusive to the Deluxe Edition. It’s set to include the Midnight Decay Bundle, two weapon skins, and extra in-game items. However, there’s no information on the pricing just yet.

At this point, we know a few details about Marathon, thanks to Bungie. The studio has steadily rolled out details about the game. Core features like pricing structure, the battle pass system, and various gameplay improvements have been confirmed. Just last week, new info leaked about Runner Shells, the studio’s archetypes, abilities, and customization options.

While the release date trailer has leaked, we still don’t know when Bungie will officially drop it. Given that we are already a month and a half away from the release date, don’t be surprised if the game is released early or pushed to a later date.

For those unaware, Marathon is a PvPvE survival extraction shooter from Bungie. It takes place on Tau Ceti IV, a hostile world filled with danger and opportunity.
