Xbox Warns Mythic Achievement Totals May Change During Testing After Wrong Totals Reports
Xbox’s new Mythic Achievements is reportedly already showing incorrect totals for some players, just days after Microsoft began testing the PlayStation Platinum-style reward with Xbox Insiders. The issue appears to be linked to how Xbox is calculating Mythic completions, but Xbox says those numbers can change while the feature is being refined.
Xbox says your Mythic total may change
Folks over at TrueAchievements spotted a post by Xbox engineering lead Eden Marie, who has acknowledged the issue, warning Xbox Insiders that fixes to the way Mythic Achievements are calculated could cause players unlock counts to rise or fall during testing.
“During the testing period, fixes in how we calculate the total number of Mythic Achievements may cause your unlock count to change,” Marie noted in a post on X. That means if your Xbox profile currently shows an incorrect Mythic total, there is no need to panic. Microsoft is still working on the system, and the number displayed on your profile could change as the company corrects its calculations.
The news outlet also found that some games were not currently returning a Mythic status correctly after integrating the feature. That’s not all; the publication also noted that its own Mythic total had already dropped during testing, showing just how much the numbers can move while Xbox is improving the system.
Mythic Achievements are still being tested
For those unaware, the Mythic Achievement is awarded after completing all original achievements for a game, while later DLC and update achievements do not count toward the requirement. Microsoft also retroactively applied Mythic status to eligible games players had already completed, including Xbox 360 titles.
The feature also adds a new Gaming tab to Xbox profiles and a progress bar showing how close players are to completing a game’s original achievement list. For now, the wrong totals appear to be part of the testing process rather than a permanent loss of achievements. Xbox is continuing to refine the feature before Mythic Achievements roll out more broadly.
