Microsoft has released the August 2026 XBOX system update, bringing XBOX consoles to build 10.0.26100.9426 with new XBOX 360 features, cloud save restoration, and cloud gaming improvements.

The update is rolling out now, and several additions previously appeared in an XBOX Insider update.

XBOX 360 games get dedicated game hubs

XBOX 360 games now support game hubs directly from their game cards. Players can open an installed XBOX 360 title and quickly check achievement progress, captures, and other game information.

Microsoft has also improved the icons that indicate cloud save synchronization status inside game hubs.

Players can now open detailed achievement popups from an XBOX 360 game’s achievement list within their profile. Windows Phone games will also start appearing in XBOX achievement history.

Play games through the cloud while updates install

The August update gives players another option when a game requires an update.

If the title supports XBOX Cloud Gaming through the player’s Game Pass membership, they can start streaming it instead of waiting for the local update to finish.

Players can queue the local update for later and continue playing through the cloud. XBOX will also show the cloud gaming option directly on supported game cards while games install or update.

XBOX adds cloud save restoration

XBOX consoles can now restore previously synchronized cloud saves for supported games.

Players can browse available save versions and restore an earlier copy without leaving the XBOX interface.

The feature initially supports Forza Horizon 6. Players can access it through Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Restore saved data.

Microsoft plans to expand cloud save restoration to more games in future updates.

XBOX wishlists now support up to 1,000 games

Microsoft has significantly increased the XBOX wishlist limit.

Players can now save up to 1,000 released or upcoming games. They can also add titles to their wishlist directly from game cards.

The larger limit should make it easier for players to keep track of upcoming releases and games they may want to purchase later.

Manage Installation now shows subscription access

Microsoft has also updated the Manage Installation page.

New badges indicate whether access to a base game or add-on comes from a subscription. This makes it easier to distinguish content players own from games and add-ons available through services such as Game Pass.

Microsoft fixes crashes and navigation issues

The update fixes a crash that could occur while scrolling through pages in My games & apps.

Microsoft also resolved an issue that caused Chinese characters to appear on the on-screen keyboard when users selected the Canadian French locale.

The release includes additional stability and performance improvements across XBOX consoles.

In other XBOX news, the Gears of War: E-Day Limited Edition controller is available for pre-order, while an alleged XBOX Elite Series 3 prototype has reportedly surfaced.
