Don't want to use OneDrive? Microsoft confirms that you can now uninstall it

If you’re not a fan of cloud storage and OneDrive in particular, you’ll be pleased to hear that you can now easily remove OneDrive from your Windows 11 PC.

That’s right, and this has been acknowledged by Microsoft, and it can be done in a matter of minutes.

The latest documentation from Microsoft describes how to remove it

While OneDrive can be useful, many simply don’t use cloud storage or they don’t prefer using OneDrive. In the past, removing OneDrive was next to impossible, and if you didn’t want to use it, Microsoft advised you to keep it unliked on your PC.

This would make OneDrive disabled, but it would still be available on your PC if you ever change your mind. Well, that’s about to change according to the Neowin.

Recently, Microsoft’s official documentation for OneDrive has changed, and in the past, it only had information on how to unlink your account.

Now there’s a new section on the bottom that tells you how to remove OneDrive on Windows 10 and 11.

You can now remove OneDrive, just like any other installed application right from the Settings app and it will be gone for good.

This is great news for all users who don’t use cloud storage or OneDrive, and we wish this option was available sooner.

Speaking of OneDrive, the upload via URL feature is being retired in OneDrive, so use it while you still can.
