customize Windows 11 Start menu with Windhawk mod

Would you believe us if we could tell you that you can remove the search box, change the position of the Power button, and make other changes to your Start menu on Windows 11? With the Windhawk Windows 11 Taskbar Styler mod, you can redesign the Start menu.

The mod can help you tweak the way the Start menu looks by removing unwanted items. You need to have Windhawk version 1.4 or later for it to work.

The mod developer, Michael Maltsev, mentioned how it works:

The settings have two sections: control styles and resource variables. Control styles allow to override styles, such as size and color, for the target elements. Resource variables allow to override predefined variables.

To use it, download Windhawk from windhawk.net and install it. At the time of writing, we installed version 1.4.1. Next, locate Mods from the top right menu and find & install the Windows 11 Taskbar Styler mod. Once it is installed, go to Settings and modify the styles as per your choice.

You can :

  • Remove the search box
  • Move the pinned app list
  • Remove the recommended section
  • Move the power button
  • Remove the user profile button

Here are the detailed instructions for each:

If you don’t feel comfortable making changes to the original design with the mods but still want something new in the Start menu, you need to wait a while, as Microsoft is reportedly working on redesigning it.
