Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm Games have officially confirmed that Star Wars Zero Company will launch on August 27, 2026, with the announcement made during the Summer Game Fest livestream.

The upcoming title is a single-player turn-based tactics game that draws clear inspiration from the popular XCOM series. It is being developed by Respawn Entertainment in collaboration with Bit Reactor, bringing together expertise from two studios with strong backgrounds in action and strategy games.

First Gameplay Trailer Offers Detailed Look

Alongside the release date announcement, fans were treated to the first substantial gameplay trailer for Star Wars Zero Company.

The footage showcased tactical squad-based combat, character customization, and several story elements set during the Clone Wars era. One of the biggest surprises from the trailer was the appearance of Anakin Skywalker, confirming that iconic characters from the Star Wars universe will play a role in the game’s narrative.

Respawn and Bit Reactor Join Forces

Respawn Entertainment is best known for developing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, one of the most successful recent Star Wars titles. For Zero Company, the studio has partnered with Bit Reactor, a team founded by industry veterans who previously worked on strategy franchises including XCOM.

The collaboration aims to blend cinematic Star Wars storytelling with deep tactical gameplay.

Lead a Squad During the Clone Wars

Players take control of Hawks, a former Republic officer who commands a group of mercenaries, bounty hunters, and other specialists during the Clone Wars.

Hawks is fully customizable, allowing players to alter both the character’s appearance and combat class. This flexibility extends to the rest of the squad as well, giving players significant freedom in how they build their team.

Recruit and Customize Star Wars Teammates

Throughout the campaign, players can recruit a variety of Star Wars-inspired companions, including Clone Troopers, Jedi, Astromech droids, bounty hunters, and other specialized operatives.

Each teammate can be customized to fit different tactical roles, encouraging players to experiment with squad compositions and strategies.

Choices Shape Story and Combat

Player decisions will have a meaningful impact on both the narrative and gameplay systems.

According to the developers, building relationships between squad members is a key mechanic. Stronger bonds unlock new abilities and powerful combat synergies, rewarding players who invest time in developing their team.

Base Building and Intelligence Gathering

Outside of combat missions, players will manage and expand a central base of operations.

The game also features an intelligence system that allows players to deploy informants and gather information about enemy plans. These insights can provide strategic advantages before heading into battle.

Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Star Wars Zero Company will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC when it launches on August 27, 2026.

Star Wars Zero Company was not the only major announcement during Summer Game Fest.

The event also featured the reveal of Stellar Blade Blood Rain, a new entry in the action franchise, as well as a fresh look at Wolf Among Us 2, the long-awaited sequel from Telltale Games.

Together, the announcements helped make this year’s Summer Game Fest one of the biggest showcases for upcoming games in 2026.
