About a month ago, Microsoft revealed a persistent bug that caused people to look at a loading spinner before the Photos app in Windows 11 crashed and failed.
This problem was more of an annoyance for organizations and businesses, with regular users not experiencing much impact. But now, Microsoft has found a workaround. However, according to the official blog post, the solution might not be easy for some IT admins, but the Redmond-based tech giant says it’s working.
Here’s the deal: you must get hold of the new WinAppSDK. Don’t know which one to choose? You can find out if your system is x64, x86, or arm64 by simply typing System Information into the Start menu and opening it.
After you get the correct installer for your computer’s architecture, run it as an administrator and let it work its magic. There is no need to watch over everything; allow the command prompt window to continue its task until it closes automatically.
Currently, this is everything you have to do. Microsoft knows this fix is quite complicated, and it’s working for a more permanent and easier-to-implement solution for the Photos app, which will be released in an upcoming Windows 11 update.
This trick is only possible once for each device, not for every user. It makes life a little easier for IT administrators.
