KB5053657

Microsoft has released KB5053657 to Windows 11 Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. The update, which is part of Windows 11 version 23H2, brings a huge change to the Settings Page.

More exactly, commercial devices will now feature a “Your Accounts” card on the Settings Home Page and “Top cards” displaying key hardware specifications such as storage, graphics, RAM, and more. This should make it easier for Windows 11 users to get essential info quickly when needed.

Elsewhere, KB5053657 introduces increased support for text scaling across File Explorer, File Open/Save dialogs, and copy dialogs, making it more accessible for users with visual impairments.

A new Gamepad keyboard layout for the touch keyboard has been enabled, allowing users to navigate and type using their Xbox controller. This includes button accelerators and vertically aligned keyboard keys for better controller navigation.

Task Manager will now calculate CPU utilization using standard metrics, ensuring consistent display of CPU workload across all pages. A new optional column called CPU Utility is available on the Details tab for backward compatibility.

Plus, KB5053657 also brings the new system tray icon on the taskbar, which has been introduced to improve the discoverability of the emoji and more panel in Windows 11.
