ChatGPT Scheduled Tasks Can Now React to Gmail, Slack and GitHub Updates

ChatGPT Scheduled Tasks are getting a useful upgrade, which makes them go one notch up from helping you with simple reminders and recurring prompts. According to the latest release notes, ChatGPT Work users can now trigger tasks when supported apps receive new activity.

That means ChatGPT can react to incoming Gmail messages, Slack channel posts, and GitHub pull request activity. The change could make repetitive workplace follow-ups far less manual.

ChatGPT Tasks can now react instead of waiting

ChatGPT Plus and Pro users can create webhook-triggered tasks through ChatGPT on web, iOS, and Android. These tasks can respond when activity appears inside supported apps.

For Gmail, users could ask ChatGPT to summarize an email when registration opens. Slack tasks can draft next steps after a client posts feedback.

GitHub pull request activity can also trigger workflows. Slack monitoring requires users to add @ChatGPT to the relevant monitored channel. There is an important safety catch. Actions requiring approval will pause until the user reviews and approves them.

Shared tasks are also getting useful

Scheduled tasks can now be shared with other people. Free, Go, Plus, and Pro users can send tasks to others for review and customization.

Recipients can change instructions and schedules when applicable. They can also connect their own apps and create an independent copy.

However, webhook-triggered shared tasks require Work access. Recipients must also connect their own supported apps before those triggers can run.

Free users are getting some task support too. They can create up to three active scheduled tasks. Those tasks can run once or recur up to once daily using flexible scheduling windows. It should be noted that ChatGPT Free and Go users cannot create webhook-triggered tasks. Speaking of ChatGPT, let’s not forget that users can now create cool custom stickers from images and share them on iMessage and WhatsApp.
