Spotify Expands AI-Powered DJ Experience With 4 New Languages & Personas

The feature is still in beta, though

Spotify has been on a spree this year when it comes to announcing new features and upgrades for its platform. Recently, the company introduced badges to curb AI-generated spam profiles. Today, Spotify has announced another major update, this time expanding its AI-powered DJ experience to more users globally while also introducing support for four new languages.

Spotify’s AI DJ is getting four new language options and reaching more markets

In the announcement post from earlier today, the music streaming giant has confirmed that DJ is expanding with support for French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. Alongside new language support, the feature is also landing in more markets including Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Austria, South Korea, Switzerland, and more. According to the company, DJ is now available in over 75 markets worldwide for Premium users.

For those unaware, Spotify DJ is the company’s AI-powered personalized listening experience that combines music recommendations with AI-generated commentary. The feature curates playlists based on listening habits, while also resurfacing old favorites, suggesting fresh tracks, and introducing users to new artists. Spotify also says users can directly request different moods, genres, or vibes through voice and text prompts.

To support the latest expansion, Spotify has introduced four new DJ personalities tailored for different regions and languages. These include Maïa for French, Ben for German, Alex for Italian, and Dani for Brazilian Portuguese. According to Spotify, each DJ personality has been designed with help from local teams to better match cultural tone and listening habits.

The company also notes that users can switch DJ languages directly through the app’s three-dot menu inside the DJ card. As of now, the feature remains in beta, which means Spotify will likely continue improving the experience over time. Speaking of new features, Spotify has also recently introduced SongDNA feature that allows you see how tracks are connected.
