XBOX Insiders Can Now Spot Mutual Friends & Customize Their Library Like Never Before
XBOX is rolling out a bunch of new features for Insiders, and this time the focus is purely on making the experience feel more personal, more social, and a little easier to navigate day-to-day. The latest Insider build introduces new ways to discover friends, customize game libraries, keep track of upcoming releases, and even reduce power consumption. While these features are currently limited to select testers, they offer a glimpse at what could soon arrive for all XBOX users.
XBOX makes social discovery more useful for Insiders
One of the biggest highlights is related to player profiles. XBOX is now testing a mutual friends feature that lets users see shared connections when viewing someone else’s profile. If you’re not already connected with a player, XBOX will also display the number of mutual friends you have in common, provided privacy settings allow it.
The feature appears designed to make friend discovery feel more natural, especially for players who frequently meet teammates through multiplayer games.
XBOX is also expanding customization options across the console experience. Players can now enable richer poster-style artwork inside My Games & Apps, giving game libraries a more visual appearance. At the same time, XBOX is introducing additional controls that let users choose which status indicators remain visible, helping create a cleaner interface.
More personalization and lower power usage
XBOX is also simplifying how players track upcoming releases. Users can now add unreleased games directly to their wishlist from a game’s card page without waiting for pre-orders to go live.
Microsoft is also continuing its push towards its energy-saving initiatives. The company says some XBOX Series X|S and XBOX One consoles configured for Sleep mode are being updated to use the Shutdown (energy saving) option instead.
According to Microsoft, the feature can reduce power consumption by up to 20 times while the console is turned off, while still allowing overnight updates for games, apps, and system software.
