Valve appears to have accidentally dropped the clearest hint about Steam Frame’s release date being imminent. That’s because retail-style setup videos has leaked through the Steam client, showing the headset, accessories, and first-use process.

Steam Frame appears much closer to release

According to SteamDeckHQ, the videos surfaced through an update linked to Steam’s ARM client before disappearing (via VideoCardz). It reportedly covered unboxing, fit adjustments, glasses support, Steam sign-in, wireless setup, and accessories. The leak therefore looks more like finished retail material than an early developer demonstration.

The headset uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform and dual 2160×2160 displays. Valve designed it for standalone SteamOS gaming and low-latency wireless PC streaming. The package includes a wireless adapter, while an optional Ergonomic Accessories Kit adds comfort-focused accessories.

That matters because Valve has spent months preparing developers for the device. Valve’s Steam Frame Verified program, while Valve’s developer documentation supports standalone game testing.

Valve still has not announced a specific release date or price. The company confirmed in June that Steam Frame would ship during summer 2026, narrowing the earlier 2026 window. That window is now getting tight, making these leaked retail videos more interesting. If you want to check all the leaked videos, head to Steam Hardware Updates X account.
