Steam Frame Pre-Order: Know the Price and How to Join the Reservation Queue

Valve has finally opened reservations for the Steam Frame, but buying one is not as straightforward as a normal Steam purchase. The company is using a randomized reservation system for the headset.

How to reserve the Steam Frame

To pre-order the Steam Frame, head to the official Steam Frame store page and sign in with your Steam account. You will then need to join Valve’s reservation process for the headset.

Valve is offering two storage options. The 256GB model costs $1,059, while the 1TB version costs $1,299. The reservation window is not open indefinitely. Valve says sign-ups close on September 17, so interested buyers should register before then.

After reservations close, Valve plans to send the first batch of purchase invitations on September 18. Getting a reservation does not mean you immediately pay for the headset.

What happens after you reserve the Steam Frame?

If you receive an invitation, you can proceed with the actual purchase through Steam. The randomized system means Valve will determine who receives invitations first.

There are also several accessories you can purchase separately. The Steam Frame power supply costs $29, while the Ergonomic Accessories Kit costs $59. The Accessory Replacement Kit costs another $49. It includes replacement parts for the face gasket and cushions.

Valve has not made the process identical to buying a regular Steam game. The reservation system is designed to manage demand during the initial rollout. So, if you want the Steam Frame, join the reservation before September 17. Then, keep an eye on your Steam account for a purchase invitation starting September 18.
