After years of waiting, The Elder Scrolls 6 appears to be finally having a name worth remembering. A new report claims Bethesda is getting ready to reveal The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel as soon as November. The same report shares fresh details about its setting and story.

The Elder Scrolls 6 could finally get its official name

The news comes via Tom Warren from The Verge, who noted in his latest Notepad newsletter that sources familiar with Bethesda’s plans say the next mainline RPG will carry the Sentinel subtitle. The announcement could happen on November 11, marking Skyrim’s 15th anniversary. However, Warren reportedly expects a title reveal rather than a full gameplay showcase.

Interestingly, fans have suspected Sentinel for months. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma previously teased a live playthrough of The Elder Scrolls VI. She praised its scale and grandeur while hiding the subtitle behind eight asterisks. Sentinel fits that clue, although Bethesda has yet to confirm the name officially.

Hammerfell and ancient Elder Scrolls secrets could shape the story

Speaking of the rumored setting, Sentinel reportedly takes players to Hammerfell. The province has appeared in earlier franchise entries but has never headlined a mainline Elder Scrolls game. Sentinel itself is a prominent city and kingdom within Hammerfell, making the reported subtitle a fitting choice.

The report also suggests the RPG will explore the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves. Players could uncover secrets surrounding the mysterious ancient artifacts that give the franchise its name. Bethesda has not officially confirmed these story details, so they should still be treated as reported information.

Bethesda still has plenty to reveal

The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced in 2018, but Bethesda has shared very little publicly since then. In July, the studio confirmed that the game remains its primary development focus. The team is building it alongside Fallout 5 using Creation Engine 3.

That said, fans should keep expectations in check. November could bring the official name without a trailer, release window, or extended gameplay footage. Bethesda has yet to confirm any announcement date.
