Forza Horizon 6 has become the biggest first-party game launch of 2026 across Microsoft and Sony, generating an estimated $579.2 million in revenue and selling 8.8 million copies across Xbox and PC.

According to Alinea Analytics, the racing game has outperformed every other first-party release from both companies this year, despite launching without a PlayStation 5 version.

The game debuted in May 2026 and achieved these numbers in approximately five months. Its performance could grow further when the PS5 version arrives, currently expected in early 2027.

Xbox leads Forza Horizon 6 sales, but Steam isn’t far behind

Xbox accounted for 56.7% of Forza Horizon 6’s estimated revenue, while Steam contributed the remaining 43.3%, highlighting the game’s strong performance on PC.

Xbox Game Pass also played a significant role in its success. Alinea estimates that around 10 million players accessed the game through Microsoft’s subscription service.

Of those players, approximately 1.3 million purchased the game’s premium upgrade, generating an additional $82 million in revenue.

Marvel’s Wolverine and MLB The Show 26 trail behind

Forza Horizon 6 holds a substantial lead over other major first-party releases from Microsoft and Sony.

Marvel’s Wolverine ranked second with approximately $192.9 million in revenue on PS5, while MLB The Show 26 followed closely with $192.7 million.

MLB The Show 26 generated 52% of its revenue on PlayStation and 48% on Xbox, demonstrating a relatively balanced distribution between the two platforms.

Meanwhile, Halo: Campaign Evolved generated an estimated $86.6 million, with PS5 accounting for 46.5% of revenue, Xbox contributing 41.1%, and Steam making up 12.2%.

Sony’s Marathon sold approximately 1.7 million copies, with Steam generating 56.7% of its revenue, followed by PS5 at 27.2% and Xbox at 16.1%.

Gears of War: E-Day generates $42 million in two weeks

Microsoft’s Gears of War: E-Day also delivered notable early sales, generating an estimated $42.1 million in revenue and selling 311,000 copies within just over two weeks of release.

Xbox dominated the game’s revenue distribution, accounting for approximately 75% of total earnings.

The game achieved these figures despite a relatively weak reception on Steam, suggesting that Xbox remains its primary commercial platform.

Forza Horizon 6, however, remains the clear leader among the first-party releases in Alinea’s analysis, generating roughly three times the revenue of its closest competitor.

These figures represent third-party estimates rather than officially confirmed sales totals from Microsoft or Sony.

In other news, Xbox sales crashed 33%, hitting a historic all-time low, while Xbox Game Pass is getting six new games this week.
