TCL is preparing OLED gaming monitor panels capable of reaching refresh rates of up to 700Hz, potentially bringing ultra-high refresh rates to larger displays.

According to a new Omdia report, TCL’s display division, TCL CSOT, plans to manufacture 32-inch and 34-inch OLED panels at its upcoming Gen 8.6 inkjet-printed OLED factory in Guangzhou, China, starting in 2028.

The panels could offer competitive gamers an alternative to smaller high-refresh-rate monitors. However, TCL has not confirmed their resolutions or whether they will support 700Hz at native resolution.

TCL could also become the first display manufacturer to mass-produce inkjet-printed OLED monitor panels using a Gen 8.6 production line.

TCL is expanding its OLED monitor production

Before introducing the 700Hz panels, TCL plans to enter the OLED monitor market with more conventional displays.

The company outlined plans to begin shipping 27-inch 4K OLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates in the third quarter of 2026. These panels target an upcoming MSI monitor designed for content creators.

TCL’s inkjet-printing technology could also reduce OLED manufacturing costs by using less material during production compared to conventional manufacturing methods.

Its planned Gen 8.6 factory will support larger OLED panels, including the 32-inch and 34-inch displays intended for high-end gaming monitors.

However, TCL has not announced specific monitor models, pricing, or release dates beyond its planned 2028 production timeline.

OLED monitor shipments could grow 79% in 2026

TCL’s expansion comes as demand for OLED monitors continues to increase.

Omdia expects global OLED monitor panel shipments to reach 6.1 million units in 2026, representing 79% year-over-year growth. Shipments could increase further to 7.5 million units in 2027.

The report also highlights significant price reductions, with 27-inch 240Hz OLED gaming monitors becoming more than 40% cheaper in 2026.

TCL’s entry into large-scale OLED manufacturing could intensify competition with established panel suppliers and help drive prices down further.

For gamers, the proposed 700Hz panels could eventually bring extremely high refresh rates to larger OLED screens, although their final specifications remain uncertain.

In other hardware news, reports suggest that Nvidia’s RTX 5090 could be on its way out, while six new NVIDIA RTX Spark-powered Windows 11 laptops are available for pre-order. Meanwhile, AMD’s RDNA 5 release window reportedly slipped to the second half of 2027.
