If you have been using Microsoft Copilot on your smart TV, there is some news that needs your attention. Microsoft is pulling the plug on its TV experience, and LG owners are already seeing discontinuation notices on their screens. The AI assistant is expected to stop working before 2027, although the exact shutdown date remains unknown.

LG smart TVs owners are getting Microsoft Copilot discontinuation warnings

The warning, first reported by Windows Central, informs LG webOS TV owners that Microsoft has decided to end Copilot support across televisions. The notice says the Copilot-enabled feature is no longer available and may stop functioning shortly.

Speaking of the termination details, the notification lists 2026 as the scheduled discontinuation period. However, the specific date remains subject to Microsoft’s timeline. This means affected users still do not have a confirmed date for when the feature will disappear completely.

From an unwanted shortcut to a disappearing feature

Interestingly, Copilot’s arrival on LG TVs previously attracted criticism from owners. In December 2025, users reported that a Copilot shortcut appeared on their home screens following software updates. Some were unhappy that they could not easily remove it.

A Reddit post from early this year highlights the frustration surrounding the unexpected shortcut. LG previously clarified that the Copilot tile was essentially a shortcut to Microsoft’s website through the TV browser. It was not a native webOS application. The company also said that it would allow users an option to delete the shortcut.

Now, the experience appears to be heading toward retirement altogether. The notice specifically concerns Copilot-related features, including voice search and AI Concierge. For LG smart TV owners, there is little to do beyond waiting for Microsoft’s final timeline.
