IT administrators can soon track which versions of the Teams app are being used and get detailed information about how well they are being adopted.
Announced in a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, this feature helps them understand how widely new versions are being used, check the health of these versions, and get specific details about devices and users using the latest versions. It also shows how recent these versions are.
Administrators can view insights and solve problems that prevent users from updating to the newest and safest version of the Teams app.
Here’s what the entry says:
IT Administrators can now monitor Teams client version update adoption and access detailed adoption information. This feature enables administrators to proactively understand version adoption, assess version health, and access granular details about devices and users who are on the latest client versions. Additionally, it provides visibility on recency of client versions. Administrators can now proactively view insights and address issues preventing users from automatically updating to the latest and most secure version of the Teams client.
In other words, monitoring the Teams client updates means organizations can now take care of Microsoft Teams issues before allowing them to happen by updating the clients to the latest version. This would ensure a smooth user experience without being disrupted by updating processes or bugs that occur because of a lack of updates.
The new enhancement will be added to Teams in March and will be generally available to all users.
The Teams Admin Center will also be enhanced with a client health dashboard that will provide stats regarding usage and data about crashes and bugs, making it easier for admins to keep the app working correctly.
