AMD RADEON release date finalized

As the entire tech world gears up for Computex 2025, the largest computing event of the year, AMD has subtly announced the reveal date of its next gen Radeon GPU—the Radeon RX 9060 XT, set to be unveiled on May 21, the second day of event.

The announcement came as a teaser via AMDd’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, a competitive move, considering Nvidia is set to reveal its mid-range GPU showdown RTX 5060 just one day before the event.

AMD is expected to discuss about gaming and AI at Computex, but the teaser image prominently featuring a new Radeon GPU, strongly suggest that the spotlight will be on the RX 9060 XT.

Back in February, the company confirmed that there would be multiple 9060 XT products, most likely two variants of the RX 9060 XT, one with 8GB of VRAM and the other with 16GB. Rumors suggest the 8GB variant will have limited availability at launch and expected to hit the market in June.

With this, the company has confirmed that similar to its counterpart, RX 9070 XT, there will be no reference cards, which means you can get this GPU only through board partners.

With high resolution games demanding more VRAM, the 8GB variant may face backlash from gamers, as it is considered inadequate for modern AAA tiles. In contrast, the higher variant, 16 GB VRAM is likely to become the more popular choice among the gamers.

Based on the available information, NVIDIA is only launching RTX 5060 GPU with 8GB of VRAM, targeting the lower mid range market. This can be an appealing choice for the budget friendly gamers, however might not be popular with the gamers who want more VRAM for high rez games. Therefore, could be a downside of NVIDIA and make AMD to dominate with a more flexible offering, especially if the pricing is competitive.

While every gaming enthusiast want a feature-rich, high-performance GPU, price usually ends up being the deciding factor.

When AMD launched the Radeon RX 9070 XT at  $599 launch price, it was a hit among the gamers, however, it was only for limited period. The sudden price hike drove many consumers away.

As the company is targeting a mid-range market with its 8GB GPUs, and according to the comments on the post, to make it a success, AMD has to place it in the range of $200 or lower to attract the budget conscious gamers.

With both AMD and Nvidia set to launch their new mid-range GPUs, are you excited for Computex 2025? Stay tuned, we’ll bring you all the latest updates and developments as the event unfolds.
