We’ve seen some amazing motherboards from ASUS over the years, but one of the most notable remains the original ROG Crosshair. The motherboard was released in 2006, and it seems that ASUS is planning something big for its 20th anniversary (via NotebookCheck).

ASUS is working on a 20th-anniversary ROG Crosshair motherboard

The original motherboard had an advanced BIOS, onboard controls, and an extensive cooling system that featured copper heatsinks spanning across the board. Despite its unique design, this motherboard had great overclocking support, and the copper heatsink helped with thermal regulation and system stability.

It seems ASUS wants to pay tribute to the original board, as it showed a new motherboard with a similar design in a teaser video. In the video, you can see the iconic heatsink along with the modern ROG branding.

Unfortunately, no information regarding the specs is available at the moment, but ASUS has filled regulatory listings with names such as ROG Crosshair X870E Edition 20 and ROG Crosshair 2006. Therefore, it’s speculated that the new motherboard will use the AM5 socket and an X870E chipset, but this remains unconfirmed for the time being.

In other ASUS news, the new ROG Xbox Ally update brings improved docking, Auto SR Preview, and more. If you’re not a gamer, you may be interested to know that the company has launched the ASUS Zenbook A16, powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme CPU.
