Xiaomi revealed its very first gaming notebook that brings top-notch features and specifications. Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun calls is “mild on the outside, wild on the inside.” The company revealed the Mi Notebook Pro in 2017 during the Mi Mix 2 event, and now at this year’s Mi Mix 2 S event in Shanghai, Xiaomi made gamers happy with its announcement for the Mi Gaming Laptop.

What makes the Mi Gaming Laptop unique

The Mi Gaming Laptop comes with a design that resembles the one sported by the Mi Notebook Pro, flaunting a brushed aluminum chassis. The device doesn’t look like your average gaming notebook, and this is because the company wanted to design a laptop that’s also suitable for a workplace environment. The laptop’s special look stems from its RGB lightning that’s centered around four locations around the device’s body.

Specs and features for both basic and high-end variants

The Mi Gaming Laptop has a 15.6-inch Full HD display, and Intel Kaby Lake Core i7-7700HQ powers the laptop. The laptop comes with 20.00mm thickness, and the keyboard features RGB lighting as well, and four programmable keys. There are four USB 3.0 ports included and two USB-C ports as well.

You will also find a 3.5mm jack with a high-powered amp and HDMI. The laptop rocks Dolby Atmos Tuning for its speakers and it includes two fans, four air outlets and a 3+2 design for the heat pipe. As you can see, the laptop is designed in order to remain cool even during the most extended gaming sessions.

The high-end variant sports NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB mechanical hard drive and a 256GB NVMe SSD. The laptop also comes with a base model with 8GB of RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti, 1TB HDD and 128GB SSD.

Pricing and availability

The Mi Gaming Laptop becomes available starting April 13. The high-end variant will be priced at $1,440 and the basic one, at $960.
