Key notes
- Meta announced an array of new AI models and integrations coming to its apps.
- Several of them will use Bing to gather real-time information when such information is needed.
- Meta AI models will be released gradually to Meta's apps.
Meta Connect 2023 event is happening on September 27-28, and the tech giant announced some exciting devices and features coming to the Meta apps in the future. Meta Quest 3, the anticipated VR headset, was finally announced, along with the next-generation smart glasses, which are coming soon.
But aside from the devices, which are exciting in their own rights, the most exciting thing about the event was the AI features that Mark Zuckerberg announced. And there are a lot.
We’re talking about Meta AI experiences, interactive AI models with their own personalities and identities. They will be based on popular celebrities, influences, and icons, such as Snoop Dogg, Naomi Osaka, Tom Brady, and many others.
We’re also launching 28 more AIs in beta, with unique interests and personalities. Some are played by cultural icons and influencers, including Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, Kendall Jenner, and Naomi Osaka.Â
Meta
And one of the (un)expected announcements of the evening is that Meta is continuing its AI partnership with Microsoft, and Bing will be integrated into these Meta AI experiences.
In addition to copilots across the portfolio of Microsoft products, we are a platform company that provides the tools and services needed for others to succeed in their AI ambitions. Which is why today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve begun to work with Meta to integrate Bing into Meta AI’s chat experiences enabling more timely and up-to-date answers with access to real-time search information.

What are Meta AI experiences?
Meta AI experiences are AI models that will be integrated into Meta’s app, such as Messenger, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp, and will be able to interact with you, whenever you need them.
But more than that, Meta AI experiences is a portmanteau for all AI-enhanced and AI-based features coming to Meta’s apps and devices.
For example, Meta will soon launch AI stickers on Facebook and Instagram, allowing users to use AI to edit their posts, images, and so on.
We’re starting to roll out AI stickers across our apps, and soon you’ll be able to edit your images or even co-create them with friends on Instagram using our new AI editing tools, restyle and backdrop.Â
Meta
Then there is Meta AI, an assistant similar to Windows Copilot, that can be summoned in Messenger and WhatsApp chats. It will be able to use Bing to give you real-time information and generate art for you, on the spot, and for free. However, for now, Meta AI will be limited to the US region only.
Lastly, Meta is also releasing an AI studio, which will allow customers and businesses, including you, to build and generate their own AI models. The AI studio will be released at a later date, but Meta is giving the tools to the people, and they can come up with their own personalized AI models.
