is instagram threads worth it

Instagram’s Threads is definitely riding a high wave of popularity these days.

There are over 100 million users signed up in the first 5 days of its release, and since then the app might have racked up some tens of million users. Windows users were so hooked on this app that they learned how to download it and use it on Windows 11. Even scammers find it very easy to scam on Threads since it’s a very new app.

But you should know that the app is not without controversy. For now, you can’t delete your Threads account without deleting your Instagram account. It’s true, Meta is working on a feature that will allow you to do it, but it will take some time before the update hits the live servers.

And it seems the app is considered a privacy nightmare because it asks for too much information. For example, this made it impossible for Threads to be released in Europe, for now.

The European legislation is very clear when it comes to digital privacy. Threads is also bound to share the market with Twitter, and some agree Threads will be the dominant app in this market. On the other hand, others believe the app is offering too much right now.

So of course, you might ask yourself, is it worth it? Is Threads worth your time?

Is Instagram Threads worth it?

Well, we all know Threads is in direct competition with Twitter, and they’re not so different, from a technical point of view. But from a cultural point of view, they’re different.

For example, Twitter is only worth your time, if you are a kind of public person who already has a following. In this regard, Twitter is very good; as a journalist, or a public figure who managed to get a following on another platform, Twitter can be very good to keep in touch with your community. It democratizes communication.is instagram threads worth it

However, Twitter does nothing for the regular user or the user that doesn’t pay any subscription to the platform. You won’t manage to get your voice heard if you’re just a regular user. You can’t really start a conversation because the platform will not push your voice on the feed.

Your threads could matter

This is where Instagram Threads can make a difference. On Instagram, the regular user has the power sometimes. You can share pictures and photos of yourself and your daily life, and you can actually build a following from ground zero.

More than that, Threads has the chance to get the power back to the regular user by enforcing and encouraging conversations. Even if you’re not a public personality, or your following is still not that big, your threads could still make a difference.

Plus, in the long run, Instagram and Threads could also function as a formidable pair of social media platforms. You could use Instagram to focus on your personal profile growth, while Threads could be used to talk to your community, whatever big or small that community is.

So is Instagram Threads worth it? Maybe it’s still too soon to answer, but in the long run, if Meta plays the right cards, it could be more than worth it. It could change the way we talk to each other virtually.

What do you think about it? Are you already on Threads? What’s your experience with the platform so far?
