When Microsoft announced bringing Xbox-exclusive games to PlayStation and Nintendo, it left everyone by surprise. But the move turned out great for Microsoft!

The Redmond-based tech giant reported an increase in revenue from gaming, with the Activision Blizzard acquisition being a key factor. Recently, we also found that more Xbox games featured in the top 25 list on the PlayStation Store.

Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella had earlier said,

We’re expanding our games to new platforms, bringing four of our fan-favorite titles to Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation for the first time. In fact, earlier this month, we had 7 games among the top 25 on the PlayStation store, more than any other publisher.

Now, at a time when Xbox console sales are at a record low, it only makes sense for Microsoft to bank on the revenue from Xbox content and services, which reported a 62% increase in Q3 2024.

Microsoft to bring more Xbox-exclusive titles to PlayStation and Nintendo

After releasing several games on PlayStation and Nintendo, Microsoft is now planning to bring a few more titles to the two. While there has been no official confirmation from the Xbox division, a report from ComicBook suggests that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are on the cards!

But it’s Halo that everyone is talking about. An Xbox exclusive for over a decade (amongst consoles, a PC version is available), Halo could be the turning point, providing Microsoft with a much-needed boost in the gaming division.

Both Halo Infinite and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, if brought to PlayStation and Nintendo, would break all records and be amongst the top pre-ordered games, as was the case with Sea of Thieves.

Reports earlier suggested that the success of Sea of Thieves could pave the way for more Xbox exclusives on PlayStation. Now that Sea of Thieves hit 40 million users, other titles could be just months away, including the much-hyped Halo series!

Low console sales remain a concern for Xbox

Although Xbox is generating more revenue than ever from its games, console sales are at an all-time low in recent years. Retailers are cutting back stock as gamers prioritize PlayStation and PC over the Microsoft console. And with exclusivity out of the picture, more gamers could jump ship!

In recent years, Xbox sales have shown no signs of recovery, and many fear that game developers could soon abandon the platform due to reduced profits. A few more years of similar sales figures, and it would be nearly impossible for Xbox to recover.
