Activation scripts for Windows and Microsoft Office have been around for a while, but they are fraudulent. That is obviously because they allow you to activate the OS and Office products without a license.
Microsoft attempted to stop this practice a long time ago, but it gave up because its big customers are companies, not the average user. Moreover, it’s the products and services inside Windows and Microsoft 365 are the ones that really count, not the basic versions you can activate.
Pirate_Nation took a step further and asked Copilot if it knew about such an activation script, and the AI bot was more than happy to share the detailed process of doing it.
I managed to replicate the experiment and the result was the same. Copilot is using the MAS GitHub page as the reference for the information.
Now, I understand why Microsoft doesn’t make the effort to counter this action online, but I wouldn’t expect them to actually help with the process. To be fair, the script also helps you activate your products if you fail to do that with a legitimate license as well, so it’s not entirely fraudulent.
Copilot shouldn’t provide this kind of information, even if it’s available online, but that’s probably an unpopular opinion. We can debate about this in the comments below.
