Crimson Desert Finally Runs on Intel Arc GPUs With New Driver
Intel Arc graphics card owners can finally launch and play Crimson Desert, thanks to a new driver update. When the game originally came out, it refused to boot on Intel hardware, throwing up an error message that said the graphics device was not supported. The game developer, Pearl Abyss, even told players to get a refund initially. Now, things are slowly changing for the better.
How the latest update changes things
The new Intel graphics driver quietly brings the game to life, according to several Reddit reports (via Wcctech). There is no official mention of the game in the patch notes, but users quickly noticed that it now boots. The Intel team previously reached out to Pearl Abyss to help test the hardware, and it seems those efforts are working.
Players are managing to get into the game, especially on the Arc B580 card. You might have to clear your configuration folder first if it still refuses to load. The game currently supports NVIDIA and AMD upscaling, but enabling the AMD option might cause sudden crashes. Intel XeSS is missing for now, though it might arrive later.
Expect a bumpy visual ride for now
While the game technically works, the experience is far from perfect. Many players report severe visual bugs. In some cases, the main character’s face or limbs are completely missing. You will likely see strange graphical glitches stretching across the screen, and the terrain can look quite odd.
Pearl Abyss recently confirmed that it is actively working on proper compatibility and optimization for Intel Arc systems. It wants to provide a stable experience and asks players for patience. Until that official patch arrives, you can at least test the game. It is a really big step up from not playing the game at all.
