  6. Use Reimage Plus

  9. Reset PC
  10. Restart explorer.exe in Task Manager

Solution 1: Restart your PC

One of the easiest solutions you can try out is to restart your Windows PC immediately you get the error message. Windows users reported, being able to access their desktop after rebooting their computers.

Solution 3: Use SFC Scan

  • Press Windows+Q and type cmd.

  3. Now, select “Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)” using the arrow keys and the hit the “Enter” button to boot Windows normally.

Alternatively, you can also boot into safe mode using the steps 1-2 above, and then perform system restore. Here’s how to do this:

  1. Reboot your system
  2. Press the “F8” continuously during restart until the advanced boot screen with multiple boot options comes up
  3. Navigate to the “Run in Safe Mode” option and hit “Enter”.
  4. Go to Start > Type “system restore” and then hit “Enter”.
  5. Follow the prompts to revert back to a certain restore point.
  6. Wait for the process to complete, and then reboot.

Note: Ensure you are able to identify the restore point date before the error message display.

Solution 5: Perform a Clean Boot

Another applicable solution for the desktop is unavailable if the location is on this PC error problem is to clean boot your PC. Clean boot starts up your PC in a clean state to prevent software conflicts. These conflicts can be caused by applications and services that start up and run in the background whenever you start Windows normally.

Solution 7: Run Automatic Repair/Startup Repair

  1. Insert Windows bootable installation DVD and restart your PC afterwards.
  2. Press any key to boot from CD or DVD when prompted to continue.

Solution 9: Reset PC
