microsoft word copilot

Microsoft Word recently got enhanced with Copilot, and the AI tool is quite useful: it can rephrase text for you, summarize it, or even come up with entire drafts.

But you know what it can’t do? Correctly position an image in Word. Unfortunately, after all these years, Microsoft Word still messes up all the documents when trying to place an image in them.

Reddit users, especially, are frustrated with this, and for good reason. Many text-based documents nowadays contain images, and from papers to reports or even full-fledged dissertations, images are needed to illustrate all sorts of information.

It’s 2025 – why is it still impossible to correctly position an image in Microsoft Word without it messing up the entire format of the document?

In all honesty, you can add images to a Microsoft Word document, but you have to take the extra steps to ensure everything fits and your text is not impacted by it. You’ll also have to be extra careful if you want to move an image around in Microsoft Word, but we’ve got you covered with a short guide on making the most of it.

Either way, Copilot should be able to do that automatically, and Microsoft should think about enhancing it to support this kind of task.

The other Reddit users have come up with their own solutions, and if you visit the thread, you’ll see many inventive ways to fix the issue. However, the extra steps might be too much for many.
