Microsoft announced Copilot agents a while ago to let organizations, and Microsoft 365 users create their own custom Copilots for various tasks.
The Redmond-based tech giant has just added an entry to the 365 Roadmap stating that this capability will be released in April.
With it, developers will be able to create Copilot agents and test and update them using the Teams Toolkit and the Microsoft Copilot Studio platforms. Microsoft says these agents can be used then in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams for specific tasks.
Here’s what the entry says:
Developers can create, test and update custom engine agents using Teams Toolkit & Microsoft Copilot Studio, so that they can run in Microsoft 365 Copilot and Teams.
The agents can be customized to support specific data available to the company or customer and can be further trained with this data to develop efficient solutions.
Instead of relying on Microsoft to develop personalized AI agents, the Redmond-based tech giant is giving the tools to developers to create personalized AI agents in-house, based on Copilot.
This new capability, coupled with Microsoft’s newest Copilot Prompt Gallery, which acts like a hub for various Copilot prompts, could be a way to popularize the usage of AI in corporate settings. Despite Microsoft’s efforts and investments in AI, the concept has become less popular than the company thought.
