Diablo 2: Resurrected Welcomes Its First New Class, Warlock, in 25 Years

The long‑running action‑RPG Diablo 2: Resurrected has just received its first new playable class in 25 years with the arrival of the Warlock, a surprise drop that’s now live for players. The reveal came during Blizzard’s Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight livestream, marking a landmark moment for the franchise and its fanbase.

Warlock arrives today in Diablo 2: Resurrected as demon‑binding spellcaster

The Warlock is a magic‑based class that can bind or consume “nearly any” demon in Sanctuary, allowing players to harness enemy power while strengthening themselves on the battlefield. It also uses Eldritch Skills to animate and manipulate weapons, a fresh tactical twist on the classic ARPG’s combat.

Unlike any class added since the original Diablo 2 era, the Warlock expands the roster with dark spellcasting and demonic interaction mechanics. Players can now tap into new build possibilities and combat styles that blend summoning, buffs, and arcane destruction.

A trilogy of Warlock content across the Diablo franchise

Blizzard didn’t stop with Resurrected. The Warlock is also set to debut in Diablo 4 on April 28 as part of the Lord of Hatred expansion, where it will join the Paladin and other classes with its “heavy metal” demon‑summoning theme. It’s also headed to Diablo Immortal in June, rounding out a cross‑platform class rollout tied to the 30th anniversary.

Alongside the new class, Diablo 2: Resurrected’s update, dubbed Reign of the Warlock, introduces quality‑of‑life features, new terror zone mechanics, loot filters, advanced stash tabs, and a Chronicle system to track item finds.

For the first time in over two decades, fans are diving back into Diablo 2 with an expansion that honors the game’s roots while pushing forward with bold new design.
