How can I fix ERROR_FAIL_SHUTDOWN?
1. Check if the daemon is running

- If the daemon isn’t running, you might need to start it manually.

2. Ensure that there are no pending updates
- Open Settings. You can do that with the Windows key + I shortcut.
- Go to Windows Update and click on Check for updates.
- Wait for your system to download and install updates.
3. Perform a clean boot
- Press Windows key + R and type msconfig.
- Navigate to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and click Disable all.
- Click on Apply and OK but don’t restart your PC yet.
- Open Task Manager. You can do that with Ctrl + Shift + Esc shortcut.
- Navigate to the Services tab. Next, disable all startup applications.
Restart your PC and check if the problem still appears. If not, try enabling disabled services and apps one by one until you manage to find the source of the problem.
4. Close all applications before shutdown
- Open Task Manager.
- In the list of processes, end all processes manually.
- After that, try to shut down your PC.
