Excel will soon have Formula data summaries in rows and cells

Microsoft is developing a Formula data summaries in rows and cells feature for Excel that can revolutionize data summaries and allow you to simplify data analysis by summarizing column data into a single cell or creating rows with formulas for relevant columns.

This will streamline complex calculations, boost productivity, and promote better workflow.

Here is the description mentioned on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site:

Add a single formula to summarize column data into one cell. Today, full column calculations product a unique result in each row, but this new feature gives you the option to calculate all data in a column together to return one result. You can also create a row with formulas that apply for relevant columns; for example, an “add total sales row” will add a SUM formula underneath the every column that has sales data.

It was added to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site with Feature ID 398989 on June 5, 2024. It will be released in July 2024 for all the users worldwide. You will be able to access it on various platforms, including Mac, desktop, and web.

To conclude, Excel users can look forward to using the feature to simplify the data analysis process and save time.

Recently, Microsoft added a functionality that lets you change your handwriting into text on Excel. To know more, check out this article.
